When God Lets the Angels Sob... This is What Happens

Ok so I know it's not really angels crying when it rains but I still like to reflect on my childhood ideas. On Monday night I think they were bawling up a storm (no pun intended). The picture you see is the branch that landed in front of my normal parking spot at home. Luckily I was at work when the storm hit, or is that really lucky? Downed power lines, flood waters, trees tumbling, and we were heavy into coverage. Oddly enough I felt at peace when I heard the thunder rolling and saw the lightning cover the sky. It reminded me of the thunderstorms in the Ohio River Valley that I miss so much.

There were also storms inside the newsroom. Personal ones as we dealt with the stress of severe weather and then the TONS of electrical problems that followed all the lightning strikes. The power went out in the studio 3 times while we were on the air, leaving us in the dark. We managed to get through the shows but lost several of our video functions and had to basically pull it all off with a role of gaffers tape. All in all a very stressful day.

Now days later I am pausing to thank God for the rain we (and especially my car) needed. Not excited about the storms predicted for my weekend at the lake with the family, but I know we will have a good time no matter what! Just needing to get through two more stormy (figurative and literally) days and I will be good to go!

Pushing Through the Climb

Having one of those mornings well I feel so blessed by the life God has given me. Katherine and I are getting ready to go hang out with friends and watch The Ugly Truth and spend the day seeing Savannah. Blessings: a wonderful family, friends, Savannah (I know I don't always see it as a blessing), the ability to see, and most important the new day.

It good to have a morning like this after a rough week. Like I am waking up a new person and I've pushed through the final climb for the week and putting it behind me. (Sorry for all the sports metaphors, I am watching the Tour de France). The passion and determination of the riders is an inspiration of devotion.

Excited about the movie and Olive Garden and then Savannah. I always enjoy walking around downtown, it makes me feel peaceful! Can't say the same for driving in downtown Savannah... While out and about a reminder to beware the mosquito, the rabid animal, and the gators - interesting set of stories at work. You never know what's going to be thrown your way. Solo and Praise team tomorrow at church! One of my favorite songs - Nichole Nordeman - I am. Hope your weekend is blessed!

Reflections On a Day

It's been one of those day where nothing spectacular happened to snap me out of my constant haze. I finished Twilight today and I am turning my attention to New Moon, well at least to my favorite parts. It seems like it's one of those days where I am having trouble focusing. From watching the Tour de France this morning to shuffling through the news of the day trying to figure out what to run, my mind is off in 20 places keeping me forever distracted. Speaking the Tour, it was inspiring watching Lance Armstrong power back to the chase group up the mountain. All my excuses for not exercising a certain day never seem to matter when I compare to all he has gone through. God has blessed me with good health and a love of outdoors so I really have no reason not to jump on my bike. I am however looking forward to the Midnight Ride Alice and I will be taking in September, but more on that as we get closer.

For now I am looking forward to spending time with Katherine, my cousin, in a visit that is WAY over due for both of us. Sushi night, The Ugly Truth, and touring the city are all in store for her. Then next weekend we will meet up again for our family's annual weekend at the lake. It has been too long since I've seen everyone. I hate missing Christmas! But luckily that should not be the case this year. I am a big supporter of family traditions.

However I must end my first venture in the blogging world to re-enter the news world. More to come as the thoughts flow and I get the hang of this!
